As the warm summer continues, I’ve been busy creating abstract seascape oil painting Over calm waters.

It is a continuation of my current series of abstract oil paintings exploring the light, colour and movement over the seashore through the expressive brushstrokes and painting marks.

The open seashore is shown with shifting clouds hovering over calm, summer seas and the soft waves fold over golden sands at Ross beach near Lindisfarne in Northumberland.

I’ve also expanded the number of blue colours I use and introduced more yellows into the painting too, creating a bright, fresh palette for a summer painting of the seashore.
