In this collection of original art, you will find contemporary original paintings inspired by the atmospheric light and colourful skies I've experienced from life throughout the year.
The artwork is divided into sections showing twilight, sunset and atmospheric seascapes, inspired by the seashore. They are arranged by largest work first.
These are views exhibiting the amazing colours of last light with wonderful pinks, reds and purples from backlit skies over the open sea long after the sun has gone down. This late, peaceful time is filled with quiet tones, gradients and darkened seas.
Bright, colourful views during the peak of sunset with intense light shining from the horizon. They feature beautiful yellows and reds as well as fantastic reflections in the wet shore. The water shows lovely blues and some sunset colours from the sky.
These paintings feature wonderful cloud forms and sunlit skies which capture the mood over the sea. You will find lovely natural contrasts between light and dark and see the beautiful effects of light over the water.
Many of the scenes are calm, peaceful and minimal. They reflect the wide open space of the beach and the skies above — suggesting what it is like to simply be there, to look out to sea and to be surrounded by nature.
The paintings are based on direct observations of the sandy shoreline or standing by the sea, with wide open views you can see from there (sometimes requiring a long walk as the tide goes out a long way!). Some of the original watercolours are based on views further towards Lytham and the estuary as you look towards Southport, with the channel markers visible in the distance.
Having grown up by the beach it is an important influence on my life and has inspired my original paintings. I love the changing light found there, the sense of natural movement and the refreshing open space of the sandy beach.
They can give you a great sense of satisfaction as it’s such a lovely and beautiful medium and often surprises you with its results.
They have a magical watery tonal look that is exquisite. It is one of my favourites because it is so dynamic and flexible. It allows you to enjoy sensitive marks and it allows for immediate and direct expression by the artist.
Once framed and mounted they make for wonderful art statements. You also have the possibility to use different size mounts and frames to make the watercolour looks larger or smaller depending on where you'd like to hang it. It’s therefore quite flexible as to the overall size of the artwork and how you frame it
